EURAPAG Assembly of Delegates 2021

Dear Colleagues,

First of all II want to wish you all a happy and healthy New Year 2021!

Due to the Covid pandemic we have been forced to postpone our European Congress of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology to 2021.

As you all know, it will take place in Rotterdam from June 09.-12. 2021.

As for the current situation we must most probably switch to a complete virtual congress.

During the congress an Assembly of Delegates will be held on the 10th of June, 2021. In this general assembly a new Executive Committee (EURAPAG board) will be elected.

As to the recent changes, this election will also be done online and upfront to the congress. Technical details about the voting will be provided. Still, each society should provide the names of the delegates and each delegate should vote individually, as also done in a normal presence voting.

As this is not foreseen in our statutes and due to an unpredictable situation, like the corona pandemic, that forces the board to adapt to this situation in order to go on working successfully.

We kindly ask you to consent for this decision.

If you oppose, please write to the secretary general not later than the 28th of February.

Nomination of Delegates & Voting Rights

Please send me the actual number of your society members and the names of your voting delegates.

National Societies with up to  50 members – 2 delegates

National Societies with up to  100 members – 3 delegates

National Societies with up to  500 members – 4 delegates

National Societies with more than 500  members – 5 delegates

A national group with a minimum of 5 members in a country without National Society has one voting delegate

Please note, that only societies and groups that have paid their membership fees until the 01.05.2021 to EURAPAG can be considered. Only delegates that are registered for the congress can have voting rights.

Deadline for the nomination of delegates is the 09.04.2021

Delegates, that are nominated later cannot be considered.

Candidates for the Executive Committee

If you want to nominate a candidate for the board, please, sent me the name and a short CV/introduction of not more than 200 words of your candidate. As Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology is an interdisciplinary field, we highly appreciate applications not only from Gynaecologists, but also from Paediatricians.

Deadline for the nomination of candidates for the board is the 09.04.2021.

Please, be aware that only candidates of societies that have paid their fees and applications that are sent on time can be considered.

Amendments to the Statutes

The board wants request two amendments to the statutes:

  1. We suggest to create the position of immediate past president (meaning, the actual president who then leaves the board). This position has an advisory function, but has no voting rights.
  2. We would like to install a fix position for a paediatrician in our board in order to be interdisciplinarity. This position would be extra to the already existing number of board members. Still, one country can only send one candidate for the board.

Other requests for changes or amendments to the statutes can be discussed and have to be submitted at least two month in advance to the general assembly to the secretary general.

Candidates for Trainee Representatives

Last, not least, if you have a resident, interested in the position of trainee representative in our Trainee Department, she or he should send an application to Sarah Mourik, our actual trainee representative, or to myself not later than the 09.04.2021.

With the best wishes for 2021!

Yours,
Ivonne Bedei
Secretary General EURAPAG

Important announcement regarding the postponement of EURAPAG 2020

Dear colleagues and friends,

Faced with the global Covid-19 pan-epidemic and the need to safeguard the health of our presenters, attendees and sponsors along with the travel restrictions imposed on us all, it is with great regret that the EURAPAG 2020 local organizing committee and the EURAPAG Board have decided to postpone the 15th EURAPAG Congress, including the 2nd Pan-European Trainees’ Congress, to Spring 2021, when we plan a bigger celebration of PAG and a return to normality.

In the past few days, we have been working hard towards re-organizing our events. We are glad to confirm the new dates of the congress and 2nd Pan European Trainees’ Congress, which will now be held from Wednesday 9 – Saturday 12 June 2021. The venue of the meeting, the Hilton Hotel in Rotterdam, will remain unaltered.

Other details and concrete information will be shared on our website www.eurapag2021.eu as soon as this is available. Should any questions or concerns regarding this information remain, please do not hesitate to contact the congress secretariat by e-mail, info@eurapag2020.eu.

Dear Friends in PAG!

Your Board has been busy over the last 12 months and EURAPAG can be proud of the wonderful success of our first Trainees’ Congress held so expertly and efficiently in Frankfurt earlier this year with over 100 attendees from more than 20 countries.

Other than for promoting PAG in the medical literature and text books, EURAPAG has also been involved in the creation of a new curriculum in Obstetrics and Gynaecology published by the European Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG).

We were pleased to be able to provide input and ensure that PAG had a place within the curriculum which has now been approved by the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).

Attached is an brief introductory video clip to help introduce the new curriculum which is accessible via the EBCOG website (ebcog.org).

Please feel free to share the content in order to promote knowledge and understanding of the new curriculum.

I am also delighted to advise EURAPAG that on the back of this general curriculum we have only just recently finalised a specific European-wide curriculum for PAG as a joint venture with EBCOG.

This is a particularly exciting development, and you shall hear more about this at the next EURAPAG Congress in Rotterdam which I would encourage you all to attend and which promises to be an exciting and comprehensive event for which much work has already been done.

Best wishes

President EURAPAG

Summary of the first Trainees’ Congress in PAG in Frankfurt am Main, 2019

EURAPAG Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology is a special field of interest within general gynaecology and obstetrics. Unlimited access to healthcare, promotion of education of adolescent patients, and, first and foremost, specialized healthcare providers and consistent guidelines for the most pressing gynaecologic health issues in adolescents, are in the boards’ opinion, the cornerstones for provision of high quality adolescent care. The EURAPAG noticed knowledge gaps in educational training for residents in PAG in several European countries. Some clinical situations in children and adolescents are rare and the attending physician might not have had appropriate training as a resident. Each country organizes their training for residents and undergraduate students differently. On February 15 and 16, 2019, the first Pan-European trainees’ congress was organized by EURAPAG. Almost 100 delegates from 22 European countries came to Frankfurt to learn more about paediatric and adolescent gynaecology (PAG).

Board meeting in London

Board meeting in London

The RCOG hosted the Board of the European Association of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology over the weekend of 26-28 October 2018.  The Board under the Presidency of Paul Wood (FRCOG) were meeting in London in order to create a Pan-European Curriculum for Subspecialty Training in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology.  After a significant amount of preparatory work and two long sessions (and with the help of the College meeting room facilities and accommodation) a draft of the document has been successfully completed. This will be shared with the European Board and College at their next Council meeting in Brussels.  Despite Brexit, European professional contacts between the UK and Europe in Obstetrics and Gynaecology remain strong and will hopefully continue for many years to come!
